We have fully trained
and certified Yachting New Zealand instructors at the club who
run regular Learn to Sail programmes. We also have a certified
YNZ Racing Coach, Christine Headey, for anyone who is interested
in refining their racing skills. Christine is also the Waikato
region's racing coach. Our Racing Programme has a series for
beginner/apprentice sailors plus a Youth Regatta. |

We may have various P Class and Optimist dinghies for sale to
those who have either completed a Learn to Sail course at the
club or are already members of Thames Sailing Club. |

Introduction...the learn to sail course follows the guidelines
set by Yachting New Zealand in their National Sailing Scheme.
The course covers safety, boat care, sailing skills, both basic
and advanced to allow learners to sail both confidently and safely.
The instructors are qualified to National standards. |

The next Learn to Sail (Level 1) course will commence
with the practical aspect starting on Friday evenings at 1630
hrs on the 16th and 30th of October and 13th of November, with
more dates to follow |

Requirements & Costs |
|
Participants must be able to swim 50 metres in a buoyancy-vest.
Supply own buoyancy-vest and suitable clothing. The cost is $125
per person which includes membership of Thames Sailing Club. |

Facilities provided |
|
Optimist, P Class and Frostply dinghies are provided along with
all clubhouse and rescue facilities. We also have some lifejackets
available, please check with us first for availability. |
