  Sailing Notes For 2009-10 Season
Regattas
The Programme provides weekend regattas during this summer. These regattas will include the Finn North Island Champs, Catamaran Regatta, Youth Regatta and Thames Regatta as per Programme. Regattas will, where possible, consist of 5 races or more as set out in their respective NoRs and SIs. Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each class (minimum of 4 entries to make a class), and handicap winners in composite class races. There will also be a major spot prize for each regatta. In the event that it is necessary to cancel any regatta weekend, other than the national rated events because of weather conditions, that regatta will be re-sailed on the first available day following.
Annual Points Trophies
Points will be awarded for the first race of each race day. Points trophies will be awarded on the basis of points accumulated over the season on the basis of 80% of races actually sailed to count. There are also series' Points Trophies to be awarded. See Programme for details.
Handicap Racing - 'Mark Foye' Starts
The second and third races of each race day will be handicap races under the Mark Foye system, also known as 'Pursuit Racing'. The order and start times for each boat will be determined and reversed from the finishing order of the first race, i.e. the slower boats will start first and the faster boats last for races 2 and 3.
Race Starting Procedure We use a '5 Minute Start' sequence, utilising both sound and visual signals ashore for the centreboard dinghy racing.
5 minute  Horn + Red light on
4 minute  Horn + Blue light on
1 minute  Horn + Blue light off
0  Horn + Red light off
